First of all take the time to find a top trading guild. (I wholeheartedly recommend Hlaalu Trading Company if you are in the Ebonheart Pact.) What you are looking for is an ACTIVE guild. They should have close to 500 members and a stall in a major city but even more importantly they should have more than 50 players online even at non-peak hours. This means on the weekend and at peak evening hours they will have 100+ people online. This is what you want. Activity. Now that you have a good trading guild:

1. Collect all Alchemy reagents and sell those in the guild store. Yes, you can sell them in zone chat but I get more for the same items in the guild store. (With less effort too. I have seen people pay 200g each for top herbs. One of the fastest farming grinds in the game.)
2. Gold saved is gold earned. Don’t repair items! Once you are VR it makes a little more sense but from level 1-50 it is petty much a waste of gold. Wear green or blue items you find and when they are broken sell or deconstruct them. If you are OCD like me and can’t stand your character looking like crap then make your own matching armor sets every two levels or so and just decon/sell everything you come across. If you hate crafting, wear your favorite costume so you don’t have to look like the village idiot while being frugal.
3. Don’t pay to fast travel to wayshrines. Run or ride to the nearest one and then you can fast travel between them for free. You can also fast travel to friends and guildmembers for free. (If in a group you can fast travel to a group member as well) Just go to the respective group, contact or guild menu and right click the players name.
4. Deconstruct everything you pick up until your desired crafting skills reach level 50. Then at that point, I would sell all white and green items you pick up, (with the exception being if they are part of a dropped set) deconstruct blue and undesirable purple items and sell good purple and dropped set items in your guild store.
5. Don’t bother trying to sell jewelry in the guild store unless it is purple, gold or part of a dropped set. There is just too much jewelry out there for sale to make an easy profit, IMO.
6. The best provisioning ingredients come from hirelings (tomatoes, oats, red wheat etc…) and provisioning is super easy to level up. All in all, I think provisioning is better as a craft for the food and drink then to try and sell the raw ingredients. With the justice system and provisioning updates though a lot could change about the way we collect ingredients and make food so we’ll just have to see. If one of your crafts is provisioning like me, I personally hoard ALL ingredients and once I am stocked up I do a huge bake off and make a crap load of food. I use my best food for myself, sell the level 50+ foods that people actually pay for and vendor the rest to NPC. I make a good amount of gold this way.
7. Buy bag upgrades. I know it seems counter-productive at first to spend so much on bag space but once you have them you can make more gold, and quicker so it is a worthy investment.
8. The basic motif books aren’t worth much anymore but the rarer styles still go for a bit. Dwemer pages and materials go for a ton right now and purple recipes still fetch a bit too. (Although they have come down a lot.)
9. Hit up all red (Aspect) runes. Most of the time you will get a Ta but occasionally you will get a green, blue, purple or gold Aspect Rune and you can sell these for a bit. (Please note: these prices WILL change over time and only reflect my experience on the NA server.)
   1. Jejota (green) = about 100g a piece
   2. Denata (blue) = about 400g a piece
   3. Rekuta (purple) = about 900g a piece
   4. Kuta = (gold) = about 3000-3500g a piece
10. You can sell stacks of mats but they go for as cheap as 900g a stack in my experience and I like to spend my gold grinding time elsewhere personally.
11. Unless you PvP a ton before level 50 I would wait to buy a horse. I didn’t buy a horse until VR 3 because all I did is PvE and you honestly don’t need it. I had plenty of gold to comfortably buy the 42,000g horse because I waited. (This horse is mainly for speed in PvP anyway.)
12. I like to sell weapon and armor glyphs too. (I just NPC vend all jewelry glyphs as of now.) I only use magicka armor glyphs so I sell all the stamina and health ones I pick up for about 125g a piece in the guild store. Weapon glyphs I sell for a little less. (89g – 110g depending on the effect.)
13. Invest in the Soul Lock passive in the Soul Magic skill line. With 2 points in this passive you will have a 10% chance to trap a soul when killing an enemy with a weapon. Full, Grand Soul Gems are worth a ton and with the removal of forward camps from PvP they will most likely continue to be.

Armor Traits

Weapon Traits

 For armor, you will never want to craft items with Sturdy, Training or Well-Fitted, and equally useless are Charged and Training on weapons.

Which traits to use?

The biggest thing to consider is that not all items receive the same benefit from enchants. As an example, enchanting a V12 belt will give you around 45 health, while a same Veteran Rank headpiece can give you well over 100 health. Therefore, armor trait “Infused” giving you a stronger benefit from enchants is preferred on item pieces which give you the largest amounts of stats so the Infused trait will scale even further.

On nearly all item setups and skill builds Infused trait is preferred on your head, chest, and pants. If you decided to enchant all of these slots with bonus health you would get about 370, and with Infused traits another 50 or so on top of it is a big difference. For tanks using heavy armor Reinforced is best used on Shoulders and Boots, unless you are looking to overcharge your armor further and want it on Head, Chest and Pants as well.

Divines trait (increasing the effect of Mundus stones) is equally beneficial no matter which stone you prefer using. Gloves and belt slots give very little armor and enchants on them are not nearly as potent as on some other equipment slots, so they should always have the Divines trait on them.

The table below will give you a basic breakdown of how your armor traits should look in a majority of setups:

The table assumes you are using heavy armor for tanking, and light and medium armour for damage dealing.

As for weapon traits, almost all damage dealers will opt to go for Precise, increasing their critical strike chance. Alternatively you may see some with Sharpened or Weighted, though it’s considered sub-optimal currently. Tanks will likely want Defending if they’re still not overcharged with Armor and Resistances. In some cases Infused, Powered, Sharpened, or Weighted can be used as well.

This guide also doesn’t take PvP into account where Impenetrable trait is often a popular choice as well. Shoulders, boots, gloves, and belt slots are best with Impenetrable trait, and you should nearly always have it on gloves and belt.

One of the most anticipated features of Elder Scrolls Online after launch are definitely armor dyes. Customizing your own equipment to make sure it has the visual appeal you like is for many players even more important than their functionality. With ESO’s update 3 rapidly approaching armor dyes have been added to the game, most of which are unlocked with in-game achievements. Some dyes an achievements are very easy to complete (such as finishing the main quests, fully exploring certain areas etc.), some are more difficult to obtain and a bit more grinding may be required.

Hopefully this list gives you some ideas and helps you prepare your achievement completion in advance of the patch.

And there’s always the gold sinks such as repairing equipment, purchasing and feeding horses, and also important increasing your character’s inventory and bank space. Bottomline is gold is easily spent and there will always be a demand to earn more of it, so I hope some of my tips and experiences can help you out in earning more gold in ESO. Most of them include using Guild Stores to trade more conveniently, so being part of several large trading guilds with active members is certainly helpful.

5. Sell traits

With research times lasting months of real time, players are often looking to maximize their trait research times and will often gladly pay for certain traits on items. Some can be quite difficult to find and getting 500g-1,000g for selling a simple level 1 item with the required trait is very common. You can pay attention to zone chats and you’ll frequently see players purchasing traits, so if you have them be sure to contact them as this is one of the easiest ways to make gold with very little effort.

Tip: use Research Assistant addon to quickly check which traits you have!

You can also utilize guild stores to sell traits, though from my experiences not as many people are searching there. Some of the most sought after traits are:

• Light and medium armor: Impenetrable on gloves, head, shoulders, belt
• Heavy armor: Divines and Infused on boots (and pretty much all other item slots)
• Staves: Weighted on Inferno Staff, Precise on Lightning Staff

Also Training and Exploration are surprisingly sought after frequently as well for all items: most players research these last and with 12/24 day research timers are easily prepared to pay 1,000g just to do it as soon as possible. This is by no means an extensive list of traits you can sell, but guild stores have limited slots for putting items up for sale so don’t overdo it and keep it down to just a few best-selling traits I listed.

4. Buy and resell Monumental Glyphs from vendors

Not the best nor most profitable way to make gold, but this easily nets me 1,000-2,000 gold a day. You’d be surprised how many Veteran players don’t know you can purchase Monumental (currently highest) level glyphs from vendors for mere 255 gold a piece, meaning you can resell them to other players for twice the amount of not more. These glyphs don’t add much Inspiration for deconstruction but there’s always gear to be enchanted and not many players have thousands to spend on Legendary glyphs.

I’m guessing if so many players haven’t figured this out yet chances are this will be a decent money-making tip for awhile. Check your favorite enchanter in Veteran zones: I play Ebonheart Pact, so I shop from the one in Rawl’Kha in Reaper’s March. I typically put them up on my guild stores for 600g each which doubles my investment in a very short time. Health and Magicka glyphs sell best!

3. Refine raw materials

Though the recent patch 1.2.3 slightly decreased the chances of gaining higher quality tannins, resins, and tempers for improving equipment’s quality, the principle still works. More often than not players will be prepared to sell you a stack of 100 raw materials for far less than 1,000g, even 600g per stack. From my observations there’s about 2-3% chance to gain a Legendary improvement material when refining 10 raw materials, giving you roughly a 25% chance to get one per stack. Since legendary mats can be sold for 5,000g each, even paying 1,200g for a stack of raw materials is worth it.

Don’t forget, you also get Elegant Linings, Grain Solvents and Mastics worth about 1,000g each at an even greater chance. The chances I mentioned for gaining Improvement mats are based on having 3/3 skill points in Metal Extraction, Unraveling and Wood Extraction, which all greatly increase the odds of gaining them.

2. Use Hirelings

Spending skill points into Hirelings for Clothing, Blacksmithing and Woodworking is immensely profitable, particularly if you invest full skill points into them. With 3/3 in Hirelings you have roughly a 20% chance to gain one or even two Legendary crafting materials twice a day. If you include Epic ones into the equation and raw materials you can further use for refining, this means you can get 5,000g per day on average without lifting a finger!

Best of all, you can do this on 8 characters. Though leveling professions takes time and essentially gold, even basic hirelings with 1 skill point invested will on occasion send you Legendary mats. If you make a new character, you start with level 3 with equal amount of skill points to spend: just enough to put them into hirelings without even having to do any quests, gain any levels or hunt for skyshards. You will need to level your Woodworking, Blacksmithing and Clothing to level 3 though, but that only takes 2-3 Veteran item deconstructions. Easy, cheap and highly profitable, and all you have to do is log in with each character once a day and pick up the profits.

1. Deconstruct items

Though the prices may change, currently you can sell Superior (blue) improvement materials such as Dwarven Oil, Turpen and Embroidery for 500g a piece. If you invested skill points into Extraction passives as mentioned in the “Refine raw materials” tip above, you will have about  85% chance to gain a blue mat when deconstructing blue items. Being a part of 4 trading guilds I can purchase at least 20-30 blue items on guild stores for less than 200g a piece every day, and simply resell all those improvement materials for higher prices. You also get a ton of refined materials which you can further sell for higher profits, or just vendor them for 400g/stack.

Even higher profits though can be made by purchasing and deconstructing purple quality items. Again I can easily purchase up to 10 purple items for less than 500g each, deconstruct them for a 75% chance to gain a purple improvement item, and resell them for 1,200g or more. There’s still a really good profit margin here, but if you dread selling so many things all the time at the very least you can get improvement materials for half the price this way.

In closing

These are right now one of my favorite things for making gold in ESO. Combining all of these does take some time and effort but easily nets me at least 10,000 gold every day, and it sure as heck beats grinding! Trading and crafting isn’t everyone’s cup of tea though, but there are plenty of other ways to make gold in Elder Scrolls Online:

• Farm raw materials and sell them to other players, or refine them yourself. For selling refined stacks of cloth, iron and wood level 30-45 is best, and VR1-VR3 mats usually sell faster than highest Veteran Rank ones.
• Do public group dungeons, sell items with Intricate (increased Inspiration gained when deconstructing) trait to other players for 100-200g a piece.
• Do public group dungeons and sell dropped Glyphs to enchanters for up to 300g a piece.
• Buy empty Soul Gems from vendors, fill them and resell for 10-20% more.
• Grind bosses in delves, deconstruct blue items, and sell gems and potions (very profitable when done right!).
• Farm herbs, sell for 100g-150g a piece. Mountain Flower is often bought for up to 200g a piece.
• Grind for racial motifs (extremely boring and repetitive, nevertheless profitable). Good places are Altmer Embassy in Grahtwood, Daggerfall Castle in town of Daggerfall, Inn in Rawl’Kha town in Reaper’s March.

Elder Scrolls Online‘s first adventure zone Craglorn comes tomorrow, and with it a host of changes, additions, features and new content for players to explore. Since Craglorn will be the first time players can experience delves, trials, and other interesting content I thought it might be useful to post a brief overview of what’s new. This guide will cover only the basics and won’t include any particular strategies or tactics to help your groups clear the content, but if there’s any interest I’ll be sure to wrote guides on that as well so be sure to let me know.

What is Craglorn?

Craglorn is ESO’s first adventure zone, located between Bangkorai and Cyrodiil. Adventure zone(s) are designed as group content, so you will need to bring 3 of your friends with you for most of the content in Craglorn. To enter the zone simply pick up a quest in Mournhold, Wayrest, or Elden Root towns. Some of the content in Craglorn (Trials) are also designed for raids of 12 players, and this is the most challenging content as of yet for players to explore and conquer.

Below we’ll take a look at few main aspects of the game and how this adventure zone changes them. If you’re looking for a full list of changes in patch 1.1.2, read the full patch notes.

Quests

Most of the 1-50 and Veteran 1-10 content is easily soloable, but as mentioned Craglorn is different. Zenimax designed it with 4 players in mind, so you will need a full group if you want to have a smooth experience. You will almost always want to bring a dedicated healer and if possible a tank to make sure you can clear the content at respectable speed. While some encounters are very much possible to complete with less than 4 players and various party roles, repair costs, soul gems and potions aren’t overly easy to come by, and wipes are never fun.

Be sure to bring a group of experienced Veterans. You can enter Craglorn as soon as you hit Veteran Rank 1 however it’s aimed at players with VR10, therefore don’t expect to easily clear it if your group is slacking in levels and equipment.  Most quests are out in the open where multiple groups can participate and even help one another, however a lot of quests are still in private instances only accessible to your party members. Craglorn also adds daily quests, something which was previously only available in Cyrodiil (PvP zone).

Leveling

Craglorn raises the level cap from Veteran Rank 10 to 12, and nearly everything you do in this area awards your group with decent experience. Though not necessarily required, if you are V10 you can still get experience from completing map objectives and quests outside of Craglorn, so if you have incomplete zones you might want to go back to them first. Despite being able to enter Crag once you’re Veteran 1 it’s highly recommended you don’t attempt it before V8: you will have a hard time finding a group who wants to “carry” you, and you will have a much harder time completing objectives with sub-par equipment.

That being said, most players will enter Craglorn at Veteran level 10, possibly with decent item sets completed from group dungeons which will certainly make it much easier. You will be farming Craglorn for quite awhile until a new Adventure Zone is added, so you will eventually reach V12 even if you don’t move away from this new zone. Crafting

Craglorn doesn’t bring too much to the table in terms of crafting and professions. Though some new item sets have been added in Craglorn patch (1.1.2), crafting still uses the same materials as VR8+ zones do: Nightwood for Woodworking, Void Bloom for Clothing and Voidsteel for Blacksmithing. The good news though is that you won’t have to spend any extra skill points to be able to craft more powerful items.

There is one new world crafting station located in Craglorn, Lanista’s Waystation. If you have 8 traits researched you will be able to craft the Arena set there.

Points of Interest

In previous zones, you often encountered Dark Anchors: special places on the map from which Daedra spawned. Craglorn doesn’t have any Anchors, instead they are replaced by Burial Sites and Magical Anomalies, which are also a great source of experience.

Burial Sites

Burial Sites are events where your group is required to defend an NPC from an onslaught of monsters. Needless to say, if the NPC dies during the process your quest will fail. Burial Sites are mostly found in the western part of the zone and you will encounter them very early in your adventures.

Burial Sites can be quite challenging for groups where players aren’t VR10 with decent equipment. You need to quickly kill the monsters which spawn to make sure they can’t kill the NPC you need to protect. There’s a total of 5 waves of monsters: the first and third are a bunch of regular mobs you can often mow down with AoE, but the second and fourth wave spawns two Gargoyles which goes straight for the NPC — unless you kill them quickly you will fail the event. It’s basically a DPS race, so be sure to save your Ultimates and potion cooldowns for when it happens. Fifth and final wave spawns a boss with AoE spells which often hit the squishy NPC, once again a DPS race so make sure your party is prepared.

Magical Anomalies

Craglorn has a total of 5 Magical Anomalies, and they are all located in the eastern part of the zone (see map above, marked in red). Once you enter the Anomaly you will interact with a Focus Crystal, which will spawn multiple groups of monsters you need to defeat. Once you dispose of the monsters, an Air Atronach boss will appear, and if you manage to defeat him your group will be rewarded with a treasure chest. Anomalies are fairly short encounters but they will still require a coordinated and geared group to complete without needlessly dying.

Trials

ESO’s version of raids are Trials, difficult 12-player encounters with limited resurrects/respawns. Once you enter a Trial your entire group can resurrect a total of 36 times, meaning you need to be extra careful not to die or you might not even be able to complete the encounter. You can restart a Trial at any time, but make sure you pay attention to tactics and do your best to complete it regardless — your groups will be thankful.

Craglorn brings us two different Trials: Aetherian Archive and He Ra Citadel. Trials also have “Leaderboards”, additionally rewarding players who complete it in record time. Dying not only expends a resurrect “slot”, but also slows down your group. Unless you’re in a serious PvE guild aiming to top the leaderboards don’t worry too much about being quick, but take the time and learn the encounters properly.

Closing Thoughts

Craglorn really expands the current Elder Scrolls Online endgame, and this much-anticipated patch finally adds more challenging and substantial endgame content for players with empty quest logs. The addition of Burial Sites, Magical Anomalies, mini-dungeons (delves) with 12 new Skyshards and most importantly Trials, ESO definitely will retain many players who are already tired of the same old. Since content like this is supposed to be added consistently on a 6-week schedule, I hope this is only a taste of what’s to come.
