You’re correct the post is outdated, but most of the stuff is still valid.

There are some “high-level” things which might be considered keeping. For example if you have iLvl 75+ blue quality bow with max rolls on +Physical Damage or similar, but even then it’s not worth much. Certainly not worth the time and effort required to pick up and identify every blue bow or other item you come across. Either way if someone wants to spend dozens or 100+ Exalted Orbs to craft a top tier item, they won’t mind using thousands of alterations to get the stats they want.

If speaking of rare (gold/yellow) items, it’s hard to summarize what’s worth and what not. There are a ton of different builds with different requirements and priorities, and lots of stuff can be more or less valuable to different players or builds. It would require a significantly more comprehensive guide to explain what items are valuable.

In general, chest, boots, gloves, head with 3 resists and at least one decent defensive stat (health, armor, evasion, energy shield) is considered valuable, but prices can range from 1 Chaos to … 100 Exalted I guess or more. Depends on roll and item level. It’s neither easy nor fast, but keeping an eye on trade channels and poe.trade can help you understand item values. Pricing can also be significantly different in different leagues.

5L (5-linked) chests are pretty worthless especially in Standard league, but can be worth a few Chaos Orbs in new leagues. 6L items can always be sold to players for a decent amount of currency.

The best money making tip is to make a character who can do lvl 75 maps.

Recipe is any item with 6 SOCKETS, not only the 6L items. The 5L and 6L items are probably worth more on the player market if you have the time, but even a 6 socket item with no links will trigger this recipe.

Not worth doing until endgame. In most cases you’ll want to get at least iLvl 72 jewelry to Alchemy it. It’s a good tactic for new players (or in new leagues) to get decent rings and amulets for cheap. Note that jewellery can roll the most mods out of all item slots so getting exactly what you need can be a real pain.

If you need better jewelry while leveling you can try your luck with a few Alchemy Orbs, but don’t spend too many. You can usually buy decent ones from other players.
